1. What services am I allowed to provide under CYBHI?
CYBHI supports a wide range of behavioral health services including:
- Individual counseling
- Group sessions
- Psychoeducation
- Screenings and assessments (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7)
- Care coordination and referrals
You must provide services at approved school sites or virtually, and each service must align with an eligible billing code. These will be configured by your administration and clinical supervisors within Healthy Campus for you.
2. Do I need a Medi-Cal provider number?
No. CYBHI services are payer-agnostic, which means you do not need to be enrolled as a Medi-Cal provider. However, you do need a valid Type 1 NPI and a complete profile in the Healthy Campus platform.
3. What’s the difference between CYBHI and LEA BOP?
LEA BOP is a Medi-Cal-only billing program, while CYBHI:
- Allows billing for all students, regardless of insurance
- Covers a broader range of services
- Is billed through Carelon, not the Medi-Cal system
Note: Providers must avoid billing the same service twice in both programs (“duplicate billing”).
4. What is an NPI, and why do I need one?
An NPI (National Provider Identifier) is a 10-digit number used to identify health care providers in billing systems. You need a Type 1 NPI to submit CYBHI claims. You can apply online at nppes.cms.hhs.gov.
5. What if I already have an NPI from another job or state?
You can (and should) use the same Type 1 NPI. It stays with you across jobs and state lines. Just make sure it’s active and linked to your current contact information.
6. Who do I ask about how to document my notes?
Speak with your clinical supervisor or program administrator. Each district may have slightly different expectations, but your supervisor ensures your notes meet CYBHI compliance and audit standards. Healthy Campus may also have sample templates for common service types.
7. Who can see my clinical notes?
Practitioners will see their own notes only. Your assigned supervisor and Ordering, Referring, or Prescribing (ORP) provider can review your documentation for approval. Designated admins may also have access for billing or compliance purposes. Unless specifically provided, parents/guardians will need to request access to these session details and notes through the school district.
8. Can I document services for students with an IEP?
Yes. Students with IEPs can receive CYBHI services as long as the service is not already reimbursed through LEA BOP or another funding stream. Make sure to coordinate with your program admin to prevent duplicate billing. CYBHI services should supplement, not duplicate, IEP-covered services.
9. Who do I contact if I’m locked out or need tech help?
Start with your district or school-based Healthy Campus admin. If they can’t resolve it, they may escalate to the platform team or Carelon support depending on the issue.
10. Where can I find more resources?
- CYBHI Program Website
- Carelon Provider Portal
- Can’t find your OTP? Check your spam/junk folder.
