Parents and caregivers often ask great questions about how Healthy Campus works and how it supports their child. Here are answers to some of the most common ones:
1. Why am I being asked to provide insurance and sign forms?
To receive funding through the CYBHI Fee Schedule Program, schools must collect parent/guardian consent and basic insurance information. This allows them to get reimbursed for providing mental health and wellness services at no cost to you.
2. Will I ever be billed for services through Healthy Campus?
No. You will not receive a bill. Services are completely free to your family. There are no co-pays, no deductibles, and no impact on your insurance plan.
3. Is my child’s information private?
Yes. Healthy Campus follows federal laws like HIPAA and FERPA to protect your child’s information. Only authorized school staff can access their records, and all data is encrypted and tracked for security.
4. My child is 12 or older. Can they sign their own consent?
Yes. In California, minors age 12 and up can self-consent to receive behavioral health services. Practitioners may ask them to sign a maturity attestation form. Parents are still encouraged to stay involved.
5. What if I don’t have insurance?
You can still give consent and let your school know your child is uninsured. Services will still be provided, and the school may help you explore Medi-Cal enrollment.
6. What if I have more than one child in school?
All of your children will appear in the Family Portal once you log in. You can sign forms and upload insurance information for each student individually.
7. Can I talk to someone about this in person?
Yes. Contact your school’s front office or program administrator to set up a time to ask questions or get help.
